Our Weekly Letter for February 21, 2001

Greetings everyone!

We are over halfway finished with contest season and completed another successful weekend of 3 events. Click here to see the posted results!  This week we are off to Houston and the State Championship in Austin, Texas. Both have some of the top teams in the state! Click here for current schedules.

Here is a thought for the day from Hugh Prather's Spiritual Notes to Myself.
"Most idle thoughts are defensive. A conflicted mind is vulnerable and therefore fearful and suspicious. A victim mentality eventually seeks victims. It turns on itself and then on others. Only forgiveness unites the mind."

A quick prayer request: Beverly Minaldi just recently retired from directing Nederland HS Westernaires and suffered a heart attack this past weekend. She is in ICU and stable but needs your thoughts and prayers. You can write to me if you would like more information. Beverly is part of the Texas Dance/Drill Team Hall of Fame.

Here is a helpful hint on a long, tiring day. Take the time to elevate your feet for 15 minutes and spend this time quietly. You will be amazed at how much you will be energized from this simple task. Hope you can find that moment of solitude!

Below is a special passage on Class. I gain from it every time that I read it. Hope you do as well. Have a great week and, as always, please keep in touch!

WHAT IS CLASS?

Class never runs scared. It is sure-footed and confident in the knowledge that you can meet life head-on and handle whatever comes along.Jacob had it. Esaue didn't. Symbolically, we can look to Jacob's wrestling match with the angel. Those who have class have wrestled with their own personal angel and won a victory that marks them thereafter.

Class never makes excuses. It takes it lumps and learns from past mistakes.

Class is considerate of others. It knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of small sacrifices.

Class bespeaks an aristocracy that has nothing to do with ancestors or money. The most affluent blueblood can be totally without class while the descendant of a Welsh miner may ooze class from every pore.

Class never tries to build itself up by tearing others down. Class is already up and need not strive to look better by making others look worse.

Class can "walk with kings and keep its virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch". Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because he is comfortable with himself.

If you have class, you don't need much of anything else. If you don't have it, no matter what else you have, it doesn't make much difference.
