Do's and Don'ts

Do

-Turn your cell phone/pager off when competition begins

-Look professional (dress/grooming); Shirt tail should be tucked in, make-up on, and hair neat

-Always ask, "How can I help?" when your task is complete

-Admit your mistakes when one is made, it is better to be honest

-Keep a positive and professional attitude the whole day

-Be quick yet accurate when judging, tallying, etc. Time is of the essence!

-Always sign your scoresheet

-Rewrite your scoresheet if changes are made

-Be flexible with contest administrators; they have a tough job and they need staff members to help and be flexible

-Watch what you say and how it is said.

Don't

-Answer or talk on your cell phone in the stands

-Be hateful or snappy to other staff members

-Be offended it asked to alter your score

-Hang out in the stands with your boyfriend or husband once the competition has begun

-Use "scratch outs" on scoresheets

-Talk about a routine, director, team at the competition site (esp. in the restroom) at any time other than judging

-Please wait until you get home to share your thoughts.
