Our Weekly Message for August 28, 2002
|
Greetings to
everyone,
We have just returned
from the New Mexico Spirit Association coaches
convention in Albuquerque and had a wonderful time
seeing and visiting with so many special friends.
I had the pleasure of speaking to the coaches
about organization and re-organizing your team and
yourself. Resource our
Education Support
Page for many support articles for
organization and other subjects.
Life should be about fun. Here are some quotes for
the week about fun:
"You can discover more about a person in an hour
of play than a year of conversation." Plato
"And the people sat down to eat and to drink, and
rose up to play." Exodus 32:6
"Joy is not in the things, it is in us." Wagner
"People rarely succeed unless they have fun in
what they are doing." Dale Carnegie
We have had an overwhelming response to the
Rockettes Dance Experience that is being
offered in Houston, Austin and Dallas. We are
hoping to possibly consider offering other
locations in the near future. If you would like
for us to consider offering a Rockette Dance
Experience in your area, please let us know. We
would need a studio that with mirrors that will
accommodate 50-60 students.
Ashley Emmons, one of our staff members, has
opened a new web site called
Freedom Dancewear. Make sure to visit it and
see some of her great new styles!
As leaders in the world of education, whether
students or teachers, we all have a huge influence
on others. Below is a short passage from Stephen
R. Covey on how we impact others.
May you have a wonderful week, a safe and joyful
Labor Day weekend and, as always, please keep in
touch.

From "Daily
Reflections for Highly Effective People"
by Stephen R. Covey
The real key to your influence is your
example, your actual conduct. Your example
flows naturally out of your character, or
the kind of person you truly are--not what
others ay you are or what you may want
others to think you are. It is evident in
how others actually experience you. Your
character is constantly radiating,
communicating. From it, in the long run,
others come to instinctively trust or
distrust you and your efforts.
Most people say their main fault is a lack
of discipline. On deeper thought, I
believe that the basic problem is that
their priorities have not become deeply
planted in their hearts and minds. They
attempt to give priority to important but
not urgent activities and integrate them
into their lives through self-discipline
alone. But without a principle center and
a personal mission statement, they don't
have the necessary foundation to sustain
their efforts. They are working on the
leaves, on the attitudes and the behaviors
of discipline, without even thinking to
examine the roots, the basic paradigm from
which their natural attitudes and
behaviors flow.
